Update from World of Widewater (WoW) Chair, Gill Purnell as at Wednesday 6th August

Dear Members of World of Widewater (WoW) and all those interested in the Widewater Lagoon.

I am writing further to my previous updates.

The lagoon water levels are raising. The Lagoon is slowly beginning to return to good health. It is so good to see!

I recently attended a further Teams meeting with representatives of the Environment Agency, Lancing Parish Council and MP, Tom Rutland’s office.

Our collective careful, measured approach has been to allow the lagoon to stabilise more naturally which is far better for the flora, fauna and wildlife that inhabit the area.

We have held back with removing a second board whilst water levels have been further monitored. However, due to the levels which are still relatively low, we have collectively agreed that temporarily removing a second board would be of benefit in slowly replenishing the Lagoon further. This will happen in time for the high tides.

Please be assured that the water levels will be closely monitored with appropriate action taken if required.

We have scheduled a further multi agency meeting next month – though will of course meet sooner if needs be.

Please do not hesitate to contact me as the need arises.

Kind regards

Gill
