There was a lot of activity around the east mitigation outlet at lunchtime today
Below some comments as to why that might be:
We are going into a Spring Tide period. Perhaps today’s tide height was sufficient for an inflow of sea water. Being warmer than the frozen water on the south side of the lagoon this may have caused that area to defrost and therefore be attractive to foraging waders or may have attracted marine life to the area which, in turn, would have attracted anything looking for a meal – Tim Holter
The mitigation pipe works every day but some times, as you say, better than others. The frosted ground being defrosted could be the answer as you suggest. Only one usually but his mates must have heard about it today! – David Baldwin
