Welcome
Welcome to the Widewater Lagoon. This beautiful, coastal nature reserve is one of Lancings hidden treasures situated a short stroll along Lancing seafront between Beach Green and Shoreham Beach.
As seasons change throughout the year, you will discover a rich diversity of birds that rest, migrate and reside here. Watch the Little Egret wading through the shallow waters with its elegant crested plumage, listen to the haunting cry of the Oyster Catcher or simply sit and watch the Swans as they glide serenely by.
All around the banks of this saline lagoon you can enjoy the colourful plants and flowers that thrive in shingle and coastal grassland. Rabbits run free from the banked bracken and bats fly silently when the sun has set. There is so much to see!
We, at World of Widewater, are a friendly conservation group who enjoy and care for this very special and unique environment and we would love to welcome you to join us as we explore and share the wonder that is Lancing Widewater Nature Reserve.
Dog Walkers
Keep your dogs on leads
Widewater Lagoon and the surrounding area is a Nature Reserve and birds and animals will soon be nesting. It is particularly important that ALL dogs should be on leads in this area. Up until now, dog owners have been informed that this is the case, but soon there will be prosecutions under the ADC Dog Control Order (2009).
