Unusually for Widewater there have been 4 Swan nest sites in 2025 and the first Cygnets hatched on 17th May on the Island near the east end of the lagoon. The photo below was taken on day they hatched and at that time 2 of the Cygnets were visible but by the following day it became clear that 8 Cygnets successfully hatched on the island and they are now out and about on the water to the east of the footbridge.
