Make a Difference Day

WOW members were joined by 16 students and their teachers for the annual Brighton College Make a Difference Day where students go out into the community to help with various projects.

We have had the pleasure of a group of wonderful, strong , hard working girls helping to control invasive species at Widewater for the last eight years.

This job certainly does make a difference as by controlling invasive species, the native species have room to flourish here.

This year we removed a large area of invasive Ivy and Brambles that are spreading out from the bank on to the vegetated shingle.

The sun was shining on us and we had a very enjoyable day. Lunch in a garden on the lagoon was fun with the resident Swan family visiting along with various Ducks and Gulls.

Thanks to all who helped on the day, Marion, Gill and Paula. Also to LPC for their generous funding for gardening equipment for WOW.
